Black Agate Gemstone Necklace

Lets make it!

Gather all the things you need for your necklace before you start. You may find it useful to use a bead board to keep the beads in place and to ensure that the correct bead and quantities are threaded onto each string. If you are not using a board then place the beads onto a felt mat or towel so they do not roll about.

Measure and cut 3 x 60cm lengths (22") of the Illusion cord, this includes extra for finishing.
Place the 3 large gemstone pieces evenly on a bead board. For all three rows place a rondelle spacer bead either side of each gemstone bead.
For the top row place 1 x 8mm bead between the rondelle spacers. For the middle row 2 x 8mm beads and for the bottom row 3 x 8mm beads between the rondelles.
On both sides of the top row put 1 x 8mm bead followed by 10 x 6mm, then 23 x 4mm beads.
For the middle row, on both sides, put 2 x 8mm beads followed by 10 x 6mm, then 25 x 4mm beads.
Then on the bottom row the sequence for either side is 3 x 8mm, 10 x 6mm, and 27 x 4mm beads.
Tie a loose knot on one end of each cord to stop the beads from falling off. Thread each row of beads onto the cord in the sequence that they are laid out.
You are now ready to attach the strings to the clasp. Looking at the clasp you will see there is a slight incline. This lies neatly against the neck. If you undo the clasp on one side there is a solid bar with a ball at the end and the other side is split in the centre with a ball at the top. With the clasp closed take the inside string and thread on a crimp bead. Feed the end of the cord through one of the wire guardians. Place the guardian through the loop on to the clasp with the solid bar and the ball at the bottom. Feed the cord back through the crimp bead and pull towards the last bead on the string. Now squash the crimp closed. Place the crimp cover around the crimp and close gently with the pliers.
Now repeat the process for the other end of the string, attaching it to the loop that is parallel with the side you have just done, but open the clasp before feeding the cord back through the crimp.
Now take the middle string and repeat the process attaching it to the middle loop of the clasp and finally the bottom string to the last loop.
Trim off the excess cord from each of the strings.
