Piano Effect Necklace

Lets make it!

Measure and cut 60cm (20") length of the illusion cord, this includes extra for finishing.
Split the Haematite tapered set into individual pieces and space evenly on to a flat surface.
Take one of the Mother of Pearl sets and place the pieces to the left hand side of the Haematite using the smallest piece first. Repeat with the other Mother of Pearl set to the right hand side of the Haematite. This will give you the piano effect.
Tie a loose knot onto one end of the cord and thread the needle if using. Then thread 16 of the Haematite beads onto it. Then take the first three pieces of the tapered set and thread those onto the cord. Now add 1 Haematite bead, then 1 Mother of Pearl and 1 Haematite bead. Repeat the process until all the tapered pieces have been threaded. Finish by threading another 16 of the Haematite beads.
Cut two 1/2inch (1cm) lengths of gimp, taking care not to stretch the wire tube.
Put a crimp bead on one end of the string and thread this through a piece of the gimp. (You will not be able to use the needle to do this). Then feed it back through the crimp and pull tight against the last bead to make a loop. Use the pliers to squash the crimp. Thread the cord back through the first four or five beads and cut off the excess. Repeat the process on the other side of the string.
Holding a jump ring between your thumb and index finger, use the pliers and pull one side of the ring forward to create a small opening. Put one end of the gimp loop and one end of the clasp onto the open jump ring and then close in the same manner you opened it. Repeat on the other side of the string.

You will have a few spare beads left over so you could make the necklace a little longer or take a look at our earfittings and make some earrings to match.
